<p>&nbsp;</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Katie Szczepaniak Rice is an Associate with Epic Ventures, formerly Wasatch Venture Fund, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Ms. Szczepaniak Rice focuses on new investment opportunities within the IT and biotech sectors as well as the alternative energy market and commercial opportunities in nanotech and advanced materials. Katie is currently the chair of the Nano-Network of New Mexico, and she is on the board of directors of NMBio. Prior to joining Epic, Katie worked for Cabot Corporation as a Strategic Market Analyst in New Mexico where Cabot develops material technology for alternative energy / fuel cell markets. Before Cabot,&nbsp;she was a consultant with Kline &amp; Co., a business consulting firm that serves Fortune 100 companies as well as emerging businesses. At Kline, Katie conducted strategy and market analysis consulting engagements focused on materials, energy and biotech markets. Before Kline, Ms. Szczepaniak Rice was a field engineer in oil field services with Schlumberger in France.&nbsp;Katie earned a B.S. in Materials Science &amp; Engineering from the <a class="null" title="MIT" href="http://web.mit.edu/index.html" target="_blank">Massachusetts Institute of Technology</a> (MIT). She is currently working on her Executive MBA at the <a class="null" title="University of Chicago Graduate School of Business" href="http://www.chicagogsb.edu/" target="_blank">University of Chicago Graduate School of Business</a>. Katie is the chair of the Nano-Network of New Mexico and serves on the board of NMBio.
