LeftHand Networks Announces 750 System Deployments, 350% Revenue Growth

SAN/iQ Software Gains Industry Acceptance and Begins Shipping Through Multiple Prominent Vendors

STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD, ORLANDO, Fla., October 26, 2004 — LeftHand Networks®, a leading provider of complete, integrated IP storage area network (SAN) solutions, today announced that in the past 18 months more than 750 systems have been deployed in mid-tier enterprise environments. LeftHand has attracted new customers in manufacturing, healthcare and life sciences, as well as government organizations and universities , resulting in 350 percent year-over-year revenue growth. In addition to the revenue and installation milestones, LeftHand is successfully executing on the second phase of the company’s business strategy to broaden market penetration by distributing LeftHand’s SAN software through additional vendors. MPC Computers and Silicon Mechanics will launch products based on LeftHand SAN management software this week at Storage Networking World and Verari Systems launched on October 12. Both the customer wins and broadened software distribution speak to the strength of LeftHand’s SAN/iQ software, which runs on the Intel ® Xeon™ processor-based server architecture including an Intel ® I/O processor. LeftHand is committed to advancing the standards-based, building-block trend – first manifested in the computing and networking market -- as storage moves towards widely available, off-the-shelf hardware. By utilizing standards-based hardware platforms, customers are able to quickly leverage new technologies as they come to market, select best-of-breed vendor partners and control IT costs. According to Guy Kawasaki, founder and managing director of Garage Technology Ventures, “Businesses looking for lower total cost of ownership, better investment protection and a long-term expansion roadmap have chosen LeftHand Networks for its industry-standard storage solutions.” LeftHand’s ability to offer the broad mid-tier market a lower TCO and investment protection in a full-featured SAN solution resulted in a recent Innovation Award from Celebrate Technology. LeftHand’s SAN/iQ software is revolutionizing the storage market by delivering simple, cost-effective, standards-based storage solutions that adapt to unpredictable business requirements. About LeftHand Networks LeftHand Networks re-defined shared network storage in 2001 with the introduction of the first full-featured IP Storage Area Network (SAN). By building a SAN with LeftHand’s SAN/iQ software and the existing Ethernet infrastructure, the LeftHand solution provides all the functionality of a fibre channel SAN while eliminating the learning curve, complexity, and expensive components associated with fibre channel. SAN/iQ – the intelligence behind the SAN – spreads the power of the LeftHand SAN across all storage modules using a distributed computing model. The advantages for users include simple management and unlimited, dynamic growth, no single point of failure, and performance that scales up as storage capacity grows. The LeftHand SAN is ideal for server and storage consolidation, centralized backup, and disaster recovery projects. More information is available at www.lefthandnetworks.com.
